Useful Tips
You can use a debit card in most places but have some local currency for public bathrooms, market stalls and small shops.
A large beer can cost between 55-70 CZK (Β£1.94-Β£2.47) making it cheaper than water.
As is the case with a lot of cities, be mindful of pickpockets.
We stayed at the Hotel Metropolitan Old Town Prague. This is ideally located really close to Old Town Square. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were able to store our luggage in between check out and our flight. A little bonus – mulled wine was always available free of charge at the front desk. I thought it was a lovely touch and it was perfect after being out all day in the cold.
Prague is extremely walkable so make sure you have super comfy walking shoes.
We got into an airport taxi to our hotel which we had absolutely no problems with. I prefer to explore on foot but there are regular trams which I have heard are very safe and reliable. You can see a more in depth look at public transport here.
